March and April Combo Update

I started my March blog almost 2 months ago, but life (and Lent!) dictated that this was not to be finished until now. I'm going to stop apologizing for not updating this frequently . . . I'm doing well to get it done at all!

Lydia's Spring Break was back in March. The first weekend was fabulous! We took the kids to Franklin to visit Uncle David, Aunt Holly, Samantha and AJ. It was rainy all weekend, so no outdoor fun, but the all the girls went to see a production of "Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse" at the Nashville Children's Theater on Saturday. Lilly

I hope we make seeing a show there an annual event, because it was great! The girls absolutely loved it. They came back quoting lines from the play - and have continued to do so ever since: "I am Lilly! I am Queen! I love EVERYTHING!" We love Kevin Henkes if any of you with kids out there have somehow managed to miss his books.

March also brought Lydia's ballet recital. She's an old hand at this now - 2nd year and all. She may not have a lot of rhythm and grace yet (she is, after all, my daughter), but she really looks the part! Here are some pics:

Lydia and I also went to see a production of The Magic Treehouse - The Musical in March. She loves reading the books by Mary Pope Osbourne, and she got tickets to the play for Christmas. Loads of fun on the Special Date with Mommy Day!

The kids were so excited to celebrate Pascha this year. It was amazing to see how much Lydia got out of the services . . . her questions and insights. It's so good for me to be able to see things through their eyes when mine get tired! Here are some pics of Pascha-prep and the egg-hunt. Incidentally, the egg hunt lasted all of 3 minutes before the rain storm hit!

We finished off the month by watching some baby robins hatch in a nest built on top of our basket ball goal. I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but this is Momma bird feeding the little ones. Mary Wren did a lot of digging in the back yard in her attempts to help Momma Robin find worms for the baby birds. She's now recovering from poison ivy!
